| I seem to get notifications for new replies to topics that I am following when I didn't follow any. And then I check the list and I'm following 6. Then I remove them. And it happens again. Looks like any topic I comment in I get a notification. | |

| I'd like to respond to the message I got this morning from my Alaskan "friend", but I'm not quite sure what to say without sounding either blasé or too clingy. How do I find that happy middle ground? | |

| ^Did he just ask you how you were? Or did he elaborate on anything from the time you hung out? You could just be straight & tell him you're, I assume, well & what you've been up to since you got back to NY. I've found that usually anything in response works with guys | |

It was this: "Checking in....Thinking of you and hoping you are well." It took me all day but my response was, "Been thinking of you too. I'm doing alright. You? " Since his message was brief I didn't want to ramble on incessantly about how miserable I've been since coming back from Miami. He made my trip to Miami awesome, and I'm having a hard time returning to my regular life. The man really boosted my ego. The worst part is I can't talk to anyone about him.

| ^^It is extremely hard when you go on a trip & your life feels better when you're away. Even more so when you're with a person or people who make you feel more worthy than you've felt in a long time. I understand how hard it is when you're in a relationship & sometimes attention gets spurred to other aspects & you feel...off (for lack of better phrasing) Whenever I get into that boat, I have to think & constantly remind myself of the practicality of my current location & what to value from where I am. I hope you can feel better soon about the whole situation, especially since you can't mention your problem to anyone. Maybe tell your husband about your feelings? Not towards Alaskan boy, but towards the general malaise your experiencing? Tell him he needs to pamper you or something. | |

Yes! You get me! Absence does make the heart grow fonder, and I have to admit my husband must have really really missed me because he has just been amazing these past few days. But it's more the other aspects of my life that I did not have to deal with in Miami - my friends' circus freak show wedding planning, my problems at work, my job search that isn't going anywhere, etc. Oy. But yeah, the Mr. and I do need to talk, about life in general.

| ^^ WIR brings up some really good points about addressing what you need and having confidence in your choices. I think I understand, Diva -- that general feeling that all aspects are kind of tipping downward these days. I've found that, when you need to talk about big-picture life stuff with your fella, it helps to get outside of the daily grind for a little while. I know your budget is tight with recent traveling, but even if you two plan a single-night stay at a hotel, or even just a hermit-style, phone-free weekend home (I can't bring myself to say "staycation"; I dislike the word), it might give you the chance to talk about positive life changes you both want to make. Best of luck. | |

| A supervisor is leaving and a colleague suggested I apply for the position. I'll talk to the hiring manager tomorrow. I'd much rather leave the agency completely, but a higher salary with less paperwork is still a major improvement over what I'm doing now. It would be nice to at least be considered for the position. Though I suspect I'll be held back anyway. | |

| While at the hospital the other day, my mom's nurse kept asking me if I was faint or needed to sit down because I looked so pale. This went on all day, the nurse asking if I needed some juice or if I was feeling ill, until my sister spoke up and told her "Nah, she's ok. She's always looks that way". Even with everything thats going on, I couldn't help but laugh. But if I was to be faint....how the hell are they going to know? | |

| ^I get that also! I once cut my finger pretty badly in a crafts class in high school & had to go to the nurse. She asked if I was ok since I looked so pale, to which I replied "Yeah, that's just my normal color." | |

| For those in school: The website Fastweb has cheap a$$ books if you are concerned about prices. Found one of my marketing books for $40. Wish I would have found this before I started! I ended up paying $146 for the same book & it had shitty highlighter & writing all over it | |
