What is everyone doing at the mo?

Trying to make up some good excuses for not going to my friend's bachelorette party on Saturday. It's an overnight thing, and dinner alone is going to cost $100. f**k that. I ain't going.

Also, watching a friend's marriage implode on Facebook. Damn, some folks have no shame.

Now the bachelorette party girls are circulating emails about getting smashed before going out to dinner on Saturday night. They're also discussing getting a penis cake and other penis accessories. Stay classy, my friends!

Which leaves me wondering...am I old? Boring? Uninteresting? A snob? Is it me? I really don't get any of this.

I'm sooo not going to this party on Saturday.

^^ No; you're just not interested in throwing money away on trashy pursuits with fairweather friends. You're still fun, but you're above peer pressure. Not a bad thing; just means you'll have more fun with more interesting friends.

Ah yeah, the bachelorette cakes... the friend I just mentioned in the Rant thread co-organized my b'ette weekend, and brought similarly-shaped (brightly-frosted) cupcakes. Many of them. Enough that we had leftovers. The engagement party was the same weekend, following our b'ette day, and so she brought the leftovers to the party -- at my in-laws' house. I still remember my father-in-law helping to unload the car, taking the plate of cupcakes inside, and saying "Oh dear oh dear..."

I'm browsing around looking for cool gifts for my nephew's birthday.

Ooh no!! Sounds so familiar. It's Friday, girl, just get through today and you can recharge your batteries. You can attack next week with all the strength you need, but first today and then a couple days' break.

Currently... laughing at the volunteer requirements for the Art Museum. People (OK, G and his parents) keep telling me, volunteer there, they'll be that much more likely to hire you. I figured, OK, maybe a couple days a week won't cut into my job hunt. I called for info; it was emailed to me.

OK, here's what's involved: You go through the volunteer options available, choose one and fill out an application. Then you call to schedule an interview. *If* you are accepted, you are assigned to a 6-hour new volunteer orientation (held only April 7 and July 7). Afterward, you are given an exam -- you must pass with at least a 75 before you can be accepted AS A VOLUNTEER. And once you are accepted, you must participate in the Yearn to Learn program, the details of which are a little vague, but you must accrue between 5 and 10 points in the program.

I'll say this again: this is to *volunteer.* Incredible. This is more work than I ever had to put toward getting a *paid* job.

Woke up a little while ago, showered, and washed my goddess tresses. Trying to figure put what to do about breakfast. Hmm....

In a few hours I have to start getting ready to go out. My friend's bachelorette party is today. I'd much rather stay home, but if I didn't go I don't want to end up bored at home, and I could really use a night out. I just know the party is going to be beyond stupid.

Missed a baby shower that I was supposed to go to.
Finished work like an hour before the shower was scheduled to end.
So I'm tired and I feel bad I didn't go. Damn job.

About to start rummaging around my closet for an outfit tonight. Going to take my sister out to CityClub (a Detroit goth club) for the first time, so she can people watch and have some drinks.

At a bar. Bored to death. Bride-to-be is making an a$$ of herself. So glad I'm not drinking tonight.

Taking a break from inking. I just finished some drawings that are going to be used for textile designs, as well as some other little sketches..

Just got through watching part of some Spanish language talk show with assorted alternative folks. The first two guests with tattoos and other modifications were interesting, but when they brought out the "Goth" and the "vampire" it was time to change the channel. I could not stop rolling my eyes! I was embarrassed for them!

Anywho, going to get started on dinner, then work on some job applications.

I just joined a few groups on Meetup. I'm not a social butterfly or anything, but I really need to meet some new people - people waaayyyyyy outside my current social circle.

Also, just had an uncomfortable conversation with a friend who was upset that I unfriended him on Facebook and Foursquare. He didn't seem to understand that a lot of his comments on FB are obnoxious and stupid, and that I just don't want that sh*t on my page. I told him we were still friends in real life, I just don't want to read (and really don't want anyone else to read) anymore of his stupid comments.

This is extremely unhealthy, but I'm downing my last couple cans of pop. I'm trying to finish them quickly so I can take all of my bottles and cans back for cash. I could just take all the cans and bottles that are already empty, but I figure while I'm home the extra $.50 from the still full cans might end up useful.

^^A whole page for each citation? That's crazy! In the past I've done just a paragraph. I guess it depends on the professor. :/
