Woman marries dog

A Ghanaian woman has married her dog because it has qualities she had seen only in her late father.

Emily Mabou, 29, of Aburi, married the 18-month-old dog in a ceremony attended by a traditional priest and local, curious villagers, reports the Daily Dose.

Her younger brother David Mabou said her family boycotted the wedding which they felt was "a stupid step to combat her loneliness".

But Ms Mabou said: "For so long, I've been praying for a life partner who will have all the qualities of my dad. My dad was kind, faithful, and loyal to my mum, and he never let her down.

"I've been in relationships with so many men here in Togo, and they are all the same - skirt-chasers and cheaters. My dog is kind, and loyal to me and he treats me with so much respect."

In the ceremony, the priest warned villagers not to mock the wedding, but to "rejoice with her as she has found happiness at last".

Asked how she intends to raise children with her new husband, Ms Mabou said simply: "We will adopt."

That seems extreme.

Gee, who would adopt out children to someone who's husband is a real dog! She'll just get pregnant by some guy. And the poor kids will be tortured though life.

I'm a pretty open minded, but this is one of thoses things you just don't do. Animals can be your friends, companions (PLATONIC!) and like your children, but Gods how wrong.

Oh..dear.. what if he isn't neutered. And he happens to get *you know* with another dog!

There are just no words. Is there seriously no people in the world to marry that you have to marry a dog or the Eiffel Tower?

I'm all for choosing a dog over a guy--I prefer that myself--but marrying it is just as asinine as marrying an object or comic book character.

Your dog being a beloved friend and companion is understandable, and sometimes pets feel more important then people. Marrying the dog is a bit silly, because then wouldn't those cat ladies be part of some bi-sexual-beasti-polygamy movement?

Well well now kids this is a special one. I wanna know if she is going to get p!ssed when she tries to get insurance for when her husband dies and she is denied. Or better yet once the pooch kicks the bucket is she going to marry again? Hide all of the male dogs. If they are going to adopt is she going to get a toy terrior and try to get it in a restraunt to feed? Those must be some crappy anniversary dinners. I swear they won't be able to get a booking anywhere. Now if she does do the humpy dance with her dog can they charge her for beastiality? God I sleep with my dogs but she must get crazy morning breath considering I don't think she will make it sleep at the end of the bed.

In Washington state, bestiality isn't illegal; she could just move there if she wanted to consummate the wedding.
