new forum ideas

^^ I've been thinking about this. It could be a lot of fun, but if it's a full-time thing, it could make this forum a really awkward place to be. How about this: for one week in Feb. (around Valentine's day, I guess), there could be an anonymous crush thread sort of set up like the polls are: you cast your vote for your crush, and votes are tallied as the week goes along. Then on Valentine's, or at the end of the week, the live chat option at the bottom of the home page could be a real-time crush party -- you could chat up your crush, or just flirt with strangers.

I don't mean to be cheesy and suggest Valentine's Day week, but it's such a great excuse to do it soon.

OK, I have an idea.

I think we have a few too many outdated stickied threads,. and might want to delete them. The Halloween Cards and Christmas/Yule threads kind of stick out in my mind, but there are others that are no longer relevant as well. Just athought, but maybe they should go the way of the Dodo.

A few other ideas:

Quote Board: My friends & I started writing some of our weirdest ones on a message board. Some things are funny out of context: "Ow! Hey, that thing has nougat!" (my response to being hit in the head with a Milky Way bar)

Strange Work Stories: I've had a few interesting work-related experiences. I was once asked to leave a sample of my handwriting at an interview so the employer could "learn more about me". He could have just asked questions, like a boss who's *not* paranoid. I didn't do it; too stupid a request.

Like how the calender currently shows our birthdays... only we're able to customize and add events; preferably viewable to ourselves only though I personally wouldn't have a problem if someone saw any events I have set to remind myself.
Would be even better if a pop-up (similar to New PM notification) happened on that day as a reminder.
Though I could just add to my own post within the Online Journal section I suppose...

Speaking of, is there any way to disable new posts in that section from appearing in Latest Topics? Or at least my own from appearing there?

I think members can add events to the callendar, I'll look it up.

Oooh yes! I love gardening so much. Sharing hints and tips for seeding and growing unusual plants would be great.

I don't think that this has come before, but adding a donation box on the site somewhere. The donations could be used to offset the costs of shipping the book from the "DR members signing book" thread to other members, send out flowers or a small cake on birthdays, or doing little projects for the forum like printing costs for Official Dark Realms Holiday cards. Usually anything involving money and friends is bad, but we could add a disclaimer noting not to put in what you can't afford and that anything put in will be used at the discretion of the forum administration or moderators.
