| Lady Gaga, please someone kill me! I can't stand that woman. The music is absolutely horrible. The most contrived, trite, over-produced bullsh*t I've heard in so long. And, yes, there are many "artists" with the same quality noise as her, but I can't stand that people worship the ground she walks on when she's obviously just a marketed product manufactured to suck people's money.
Also avoid anything on the radio, top 20's from the last 20 years, and anything on MTV or Vh1 (when they have those 30 second clips of music on there). Don't forget to never listen to anything on the top downloads for iTunes.

- ^^ Well the sad thing is, there's actually a well-written song called "I Kissed a Girl" by Jill Sobule -- but now when anyone mentions I Kissed A Girl, people think of Katy Perry.
Lyrics to the better song
Katys really doesn't compare. That's the one I remember from way back in the day.
I can still remember being in middleschool when Beavis & Butthead watched that video, and were giggling about her lyrics. Ah yes, Beavis and Butthead. Some of their commentary was really quite funny.

But what I have heard sounded rather shallow/hollow (all fluff, no substance); I think it is because they lack any real base.

| I think the last time I listened to the radio (apart from news radio) was about 15 years ago. I'm happy to say that I have no idea who is in the charts, who is at number 1 and who is shagging who
I prefer to exist in my happy musical bubble where my ears arent assaulted by the talentless

| Lol I think it's funny because I've read a few bands/ artists on here I really like. When I was a youngen I was all into pop music like white on rice. I will admit I was an Nsync, backstreet boys, spice girls, hansons, venessa carlton, junkie. Then growing up my brothers always listened to rock and alternative rock.
Then while getting older I started liking rock more. I do listen to the radio a lot though. I will admit a lot of songs on there have gone to the dogs. I hate most rap and R n B. I say most because there is every once in a while there will be a tune that just grabs me and it is a new guilty pleasure. I'm sorry but ICP is just funny. I look at them almost like wierd al.
That said same thing goes for pop music. I've always liked nickelback and lady gaga has some catchy stuff in my opinion. But you all have to remember this is the kind of stuff I grew up around. I would have backstreet boys then korn on as the next song on a CD. I don't know of any goth or dark industrial music. So most of the bands you guys like I've never heard of and I have no idea what their genre is. I know I should try to expand my music to the darker realm, but I have no idea who to listen to or where to start.
I listen to country, alternative rock, rock, metal, pop, and I think that is the jist of it.

I do. Listening to new bands for the first time is odd for me. I tend to feel like I'm over loaded if I listen to too much new music at once lol.

| Just listen to what you enjoy. It doesnt matter if it's "goth" or not Strangely enough I am a little bit gothic myself but I love punk, ska, blues, metal and I think Elvis probably was the chosen one | |

Oh thank you for saying so, I had a friend listening this Diet Regina Spektor a week or two ago and just went on a rant about the people the like's of her. Another one of these chicks is this one. This girl and this song drives me mad....this thing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El4KWGZuw8UThose lyrics are A-Tro-Cious, "you're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul" The f**k? Is she twelve? It's like middle school poetry, you thought it was great when you wrote it, then you re-read it as an adult and you think "what was I thinking". Not to sound too much of a complete a$$, but this girl is yet another example of people being attractive until they start to speak.
