| So I'm hanging out in Japan for a year, and I can't believe my luck. My friend Misa-san took me to a salon she frequents, and the boss man said that us exchange students will get all the free service we want from there, since we are only here for a short time and there to study Japanese. Besides that, this place is goth to the max! Okay, getting to the point. Next Wednesday, I'm going back in to get my hair bleached white and I want dark purple/black streaks in my hair. Now here's where I'm having trouble deciding. Misa-san knows where I can get glue-in extensions done for pretty cheap, but I'm wondering if dye might be a better choice? Does anyone have any experience with glue-in extensions? I kind of want my hair color to be like this, but with less black and more even on both sides- | |

| The salon itself is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and I wish I were in Japan too!
Seems to me that dye would be the more reliable choice. From what I've seen (from watching too much Top Model -- I roll my eyes at myself here), extensions are more suited for temporary wear (a few days or maybe weeks). Ultimately, a dyejob would be less maintenance since you won't have to worry about extension adhesive losing its grip or going gummy.
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures, of your hair and of Japan!

| The owners would be hard pressed to get me to stay out of that salon. I would get the dye job instead of getting extensions because they dye is not going to potentially fall out. | |

| Wow, let me be the next to say that OMG that salon is fabulous!
Do you want length and/or thickness or just color?
If the former, extentions, if the later, dye.
But hey, who cares what your hair looks like! You're in freakin' JAPAN!!!!!

| Thanks everyone! Cyn, that picture is just a random one I found on google, it wasn't done there. I will go with the dye then, I just got it cut last week with some long layers. It kind of looks like Kuchiki Rukia, for the Bleach (haha) fans out there. | |

| I did two bleachings today and here is the result: The color will lighten after a couple of days after shampooing. After a month, I will go back to that salon and get it bleached again and then the toner to make it white. Right now I'm thinking of getting some temporary color extensions to complement the blonde. I'll take them out in a month when I go get the last bleach job done. What color do you guys think I should get? | |

| I bleached from black. Your hair will be okay as long as you give it plenty of rest (like 6 weeks) between bleachings. Going to a salon is probably your best bet. | |

| Your hair looks very pretty Morwenna! It looks like it would be very soft too. Are you using any special conditioners? | |

| Thanks! I just use regular shampoo and conditioner. Twice this past week I've used a mixture of mayonnaise, raw egg, and olive oil left in my hair for one hour as a deep conditioning treatment to help strengthen my hair and help it to recover from the harsh chemicals. It seems to do the trick! | |

Thanks for the advice. I have been using virtual makeovers webpages to see what I kinds would look like as a blond.
