Brittany Murphy Dies at 32

Brittany Murphy Dies

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

UPDATE 3:11 PM ET -- Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy's mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We're told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center -- several miles away -- and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

We're told the LA County Coroner's is picking up Murphy's body from Cedars later today and will launch an investigation.

This is so sad. I absolutely loved her in Cluless and Girl Interrupted. She's was too young. I'm thinking it might be drug related.

She was also in Sin City.

Sad how many celebrities are dropping like flies within the past year.

I wouldn't be so quick to believe TMZ but I just found out about this too and fox and CNN both have it too...

hmmm I wonder what caused her heart attack. Did she have a bad heart, drugs, or eating disorder?

^ She didn't look like she was feeling very well in that photo. There was also something mentioned on TMZ about her husband not wanting an autopsy done, but that might not be true. "Extra Footer Link"

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, told hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he did not want an autopsy performed on his deceased wife, multiple sources tell TMZ.

We're told, however, despite Monjack's wishes, the L.A. County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy on Murphy. As we first reported, Murphy went into cardiac arrest this morning and could not be revived.

TMZ has also learned Brittany Murphy's mother, who found Murphy unconscious in the shower and called 911, told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

UPDATE 8:00 PM ET -- Ed Winter from the L.A. County Coroner's Office tells TMZ foul play is not suspected at this time. Some prescriptions were found in the house, but he wouldn't say what kind, and they will be examined as well. Toxicology tests will be performed, which could take up to six weeks.

Yeah, I've been hearing rumours about her having an eating disorder. I guess we'll know soon enough. I find it suspicious that the husband doesn't want an autopsy. Hm.....

She was a good actress. It's too bad that we lost her.

After Teri Schiavo's case, which is famous as a "right to die" case, I've been aware of the fact that bulemia can cause stroke/heart attack. As a former aneorexic and/or bulemic, I can't help but worry that Brittany suffered from the same.

Ya that is strange that the husband does not want an autopsy, maybe he just wants to leave the body at peace or is hiding something.

She looked very thin in photos..I know that just b/c your thin doesn't mean you have an eating disorder..but thats what I am guessing
