Fashion Design Show Off :D

Well, a website called Vaute Couture was having a contest for a coat design. I entered a design for a winter wedding coat. They didn't choose my design ( ), but it is an honorable mention. Of course, not good enough for me....so I'm grumpy about that. Thought that maybe if I showed it off to you dolls, I might get the opinion of people with good taste!

That is soo beautiful GhostRed!!! I love the lines of it. I do not know why they would not pick your design it has all the classic elements going for it that would flatter any figure of woman.

Maybe they were looking for an "all over" personal like. As for me the neckline would enhance any bust and the classical princess lines flatter any woman's build. As we all no not all women are built the same in certain areas LOL. I really loves all the lines its just beautiful. I would buy it.

The lines are GREAT on it, Ghost! It actually looks a LOT like what I have in mind for that *one day*... Gorgeous.

Thank you! I always agree---those princess seams look delish on any body! I think that maybe they thought they would have to buy too much fabric for their price point? They didn't tell me what it was!

Oh, boy...so it sounds like there would be a market for designs like these!! Thank you for your love, ladies! I am actually in the budding process of starting a design company---now I know at least a few people who might like my stuff!

At this point, I haven't made a pattern or anything...so...its just a dream right now! But if there is interest...maybe a custom type of thing could happen!

Albina---you would look beautiful in a sweeping train! I suppose if I were to sell, price would mostly depend on the fabric!

Shortpsycho--I did the lines of the illustration with micron pens and the colors in Photoshop CS2.

Perhaps you all will see more from me soon then!

^I wish I could steal you to help me in Journalism class.... I'm trying to teach myself the various programs I need in order to put the newspaper together (Photoshop CS2 and CS3 included)... and it's so confusing...

Ooo, may I please suggest you don't use photoshop for layout of that kind of thing? I've made magazines before and the quality is lacking compared to a publishing program (like InDesign). But, if that's all you got---that's all you got! I'd be glad to help if I can

^Nope nope we have Adobe InDesign, too... several kinds, actually~! I need to learn them all.. By my self.

Okay, good...InDesign is the best to use for that kind of thing. And yep, its scary to use. I basically scraped by using it all by my lonesome, too. Doesn't your teach have any knowledge of it? Seems mean to make you do a project without helping with the program!

^Nope. My original teacher (who was wicked awesome and very much a Goth)... got a position as Head Writer at a local college (really, her dream.... but I was pissed nonetheless. She was my very favorite teacher, and this is my Senior year. )

The new one? She taught eighth graders.

She has no clue what to do. We are on our own.

Oh my, that does stink. Hmm...I wonder if there are any good tutorials online. I can help you with Photoshop, but honestly my work with InDesign was pretty much a combo of messing around with it and dumb luck. I'll see what I can find...
