Melted Fabric

I thought that this fabric I was working with was cotton. I tried to iron it and I melted the fabric! It left black marks on my iron and a dark spot on my ironing board. Maybe it was rayon?

At least it was the lining and not the actual outside fabric. I'm making a casual corset. which reminds me. Do you think that a cotton weave fabric as a corset (and maybe some lacy fabric added in here and there) will look alright? I forgot what the original question I was I was trying to ask... You know it's a bit hard to type when tipsy. You should all be thankful that I have a spell check enabled. I'm not sure what this would say if I didn't.

You could use lacy fabric on the outside as the decorative layer.

Just be careful when ironing other stuff. Once in textiles I melted some lovely dark red fabric. It was fine, I cut another panel for the top I was making, and ended up using it to my advantage.. then another girl in my class ironed her flimsy pale pink thing, and got red marks all over it. ooopsie.

I wasn't ever told it was anything but cotton, so I just assumed it was.... I was wrong.
