| Ok my loverlies. DCGG needs some help for her graphic design class. I'm making a calander on alternative fashions and tattoos. The premise is to show that people can be alternative yet still work in a professional establishment. What I need from all of you are pictures of your gothest do up with make up and the works, plus your commentary on what it is to be alternative and why you can still have taste while working in a professional setting. If your files are too big for here let me know and I will give you my email. It would be nice to have it all here for ease though.
You don't have to have pictures or images of both. You can just talk about being goth, or tattoos, or working in a professional environment, or all three. The more pictures the better. Mind you this is being made into a calander so collages are a nice change up. There can never be too many pictures.
The teachers first critique is on the 27th of september and the project is due in on october 6th. So if I could have all of this stuff asap but cut off at the 3rd that would be awesome.

You don't have to be employed. It's just personal opinions and pictures that I need. So feel free to do either or both. My teacher is from south korea and doesn't think the goth scene exists. So like I said, I need a lot of pictures of any or all of you in your gothest get up. I would really appreciate as much of them as possible. I can't stress that enough. Even if you are just giving me your opinions on the topic, what it is to be goth, how you think employers should or shouldn't allow you to dress in your garb at work or have tattoos I would really appreciate it. Trust me at this point I need as much help as I can get.

| Sounds like a great subject. I wish I could help out but I'm not sure if I can given the time constraints. I dont have many pictures of me at work for some reason but my boss is away next Thursday afternoon so I could get my friend to take some (including my pumpkin windowsill with legal textbooks) Apart from that if you want me to write about being a tattooed pierced goth in a legal office then I'd be happy to help. | |

| ^^It doesn't have to be just pictures of you at work. It can be pictures from any time, just as long as it has an alternative look to it.
If you want to have pictures from work that is cool too. The work party really only applies to your opinions on what you are/ not allowed to wear at work. What you think you should be able to wear or have, and if you think tattoos are ok or if there limitations.
So please definately send me any or all of your gothy/ punk goodness pictures. If you would also like to leave commentary about being goth at work and what you think should/ shouldn't be allowed to be worn or tattoos being shown or not shown at work I would love it.
Like I said I need pictures of any goth outfits what so ever, regardless if they are at work or not. The comentary is the most I need for work, but if you want to give pictures from work that is ok too. Just be specific if you are giving pictures from work as opposed to random gothy look pictures.

| Probably best to talk to someone like Orpheus faust.. Or Ghost red there very photogenic ladies who dress goth or alt. At least maybe Morwena too. I dont know about the others though alot of people here seem to be the "goth on the inside" Worrying less about the asthetic not that theres anything that is wrong with it. | |

But then it wouldn't be realistic. Not everyone goes to a goth shop to wear alternative clothing. Yes I like my trip pants and the occasional gother then thou dress, but most of the time I'm mixing and matching what I have found in regular stores or thift shops. I want things to look realistic, or I would of just grabbed pictures from GB. I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm just saying I want to show off there is a veriaty and it's more then what the common idea is in the public eye. Besides, anyone can give comments for me to quote.

Excellent point, DCGG! I've yet to purchase anything from an exclusively Goth shop or website, but trust me, anyone can tell I'm Goth.

| Exactly Diva!
Being gothic isnt about how much you spend on an outfit or what gothic labels you wear, it's about YOU
When I first started out many many moons ago, there were no specialist goth shops or crap like that, we made a lot of clothes and basically customised others to suit our individual style. Please note the word INDIVIDUAL.
There is no rule in the Big Book of Goth which tells you that you HAVE to look a certain way.
I freely admit that there are some types of goth that I dont like but I believe it's the right of everyone to embrace their own style

| Wow. I'm really surprised that so many have their knickers in a bunch. I was not suggesting anyone's level of gothness was in dispute. I will point out, though, that the original poster did ask: "What I need from all of you are pictures of your gothest do up with make up and the works" My comment was that not everyone feels the need to adorn themselves with dark asthetics. There are a lot of different styles among the people in the Goth and alternative community. I suggested that she speak to Opheus Faust, Morwena or Ghost Red as they may be what she's had in mind. And let's face it, they look pretty awesome when they do dress it up! To the poster: I suggest you go to a club or event in your area. Find someplace on campus, perhaps. Photograph the creative and unique fashions and people you see there. (With their permission, of course.) There is a lot of diversity out there, you just need to find it. Finally, I did not say that you had to buy clothes at Goth shops or off the rack clothing stores, or dress like various alt musicians Peter Murphy, David Vanian, Eva O or Rogue from Cruxshadows in order to be "Goth". I'm sorry that people inferred that from my post, it wasn't what I meant. | |

| I would, but there aren't any alternative places in the area. I'm not denying that those girls are lovely, but what I was trying to say is pictures from everyone or anyone on here would be nice to show diversity. Also quotes are helpful. The reason I'm reaching out is because there is nothing here that I can use. I know there are a lot of helpful people on here so that is why I'm asking here instead of doing everything on my own here. | |

| Would this be ok for what you are looking for? I can not speak for everyone but being alternative, in my perspective, is embracing thing that either scare or repulse the average society. | |

| So...it really pisses me off to think that I can't dress how I want to at work. People just do not understand that: a) If I go to the trouble to spend 30-60 minutes making myself look purdy, or going through hours of pain to decorate my body, I must be a dedicated person. I must have a good load of forethought, design sense, attention to detail and a passionate attitude, not to mention a good self-image (which is highly important at work)! b) If we keep oppressing employees to look a certain way, people will continue with the looksist discrimination that we deal with every day. If Little Old Granny and Soccer Mom saw and dealt with alt people more often, they would see we are still just PEOPLE, just like Amber in her American Eagle khakis. Often, they might find out that we just might give them better service! I'm not talking just about retail and face-to-face workplaces. Why should we have to wear the corporate uniform in our cubicle? Why does wearing an uncomfortable, ugly, hot outfit help us work any harder or any better? Wouldn't one think that if we were dressed in our own skin, so to speak, we would be much more apt to perform with vigor and passion? I could go on. Oh god, I could go on. But I won't, you get the idea! I'll go and hunt down some good ponced-up pics now. | |
