Poll: Which program?

I have two summer programs in France that I'm trying to decide between.

One is in Vichy and has this language program.

The other is Montepellier and has this program.

Money is a little bit of an issue, but at the same time, they're not that far off in price from one another.

Comments?

Wow, that sounds like a very tough decision. Both sound like such lovely cities, and the programs are comparable, but it looks like Montpellier has more social and cultural activities for students. I'm going with Montpellier. Smile

It does look interesting... I'm still doing my number crunching and writing out scholarship essays so hopefully I get something that will help make it less about money.

Not including room and board? Vichy: $3,089 (converting from Euros and calculating for 8 weeks there) and Montpellier: $3,500.

With room and board added in: Vichy: $5,600 and Montpellier: $6,860.

That's not counting travel to and from either, but that wouldn't be as much of an issue since I could probably use my German funds to help with that. For each, one would have to add about $1,300 for travel onto each program.

I've never been to france but from what I've heard from people who have and from TV, Montpellier seems to be more like a city, a touristy city so you may be able to find more things there that you'd recognize and be more comfortable with. On the other hand it looks like Vichy is in the central area which I've heard is really comfortable and moves a more relaxed pace and is a lot less touristy... Probably Spooky would have better info's on this since he just travled france within the last couple years, not saying he was at either location but still...

My suggestion,

Je voyagerais à Montepellier, Vichy est une belle petite ville avec l'histoire Romaine, mais Montpellier aura plus pour faire. Il ne jette pas de coups d'oeil historiques romains ou grecs, mais il devrait avoir beaucoup d'architecture d'ère de Croisade et d'attractions touristiques. La ville y a moins d'un million de personnes, mais beaucoup plus de gens que Vichy et un beau district d'art. Absentez-vous juste des zones algériennes après sombre.
