As Diva I want to learn some Norwegian and another lanuage I am currently learning is Urdu. And a lil helper here is going to teach me some French.

I speak Portuguese.
When my bf hears me talking to my mom, he thinks we are arguing...haha

It would be cool to learn Japanese but I'm too lazy to actually go out and learn it.
The closest thing I've done was buy a Japanese dictionary haha

i know english, and a tiny bit of hebrew. I want to learn hebrew,japanese, finish, german, hindi, thai, khmere, welsh,irish,romanian. My gran dad spoke nine languages, and i would like to know 2 more then him. He spoke 7 out of the nine like a native, so imshooting for speaking at least 7 like a native speaker.

I know English (duh) and a itty bitty amount of French from high school. I'm trying to self teach German, and after that, Finnish Swedish Norse.

I was so proud of myself at Target the other day. A couple of years back, I tried teaching myself Norwegian for fun, but because of school and other committments I had to give it up. The hubby and I were looking at GPS devices at Taret, and one of them had the language set to Danish. I started fooling around with it and understood almost every word of it! Written Danish and written Norwegian are very very very similar. So anywho, what little I learned a couple of years back actually stuck. grin

I want to give Italian a try. Being a Romance language it is very similar to my native Spanish, so it shouldn't be that hard to learn.

I found it pretty easy to learn; studied it for 3 1/2 yrs., but that was 15 yrs. ago. I think it is similar to Spanish, from what little Spanish I know. I hear Italian and French are similar, but I disagree -- I'm no good at French!

Anyway, if you'd like to toss a few phrases around, just let me know and I'll try to shake off the cobwebs. Smile

^^Hee hee. I took French for 4 years in High school.. I found it and Italian to be similar. Italian to me seemed to be the in between of french and spanish.

Would you like me to look up some advanced Italian for you Red? I know a few pen-pal sites where native speakers would talk with you to help you get it back and perfect it.

Well, there's a ton that come up with a google search, but the two main ones I use are Polyglot and Language Exchange. Both are free to sign up, but polyglot will bury your page to the back of the list if you don't become a VIP member (but you can still contact others) and language exchange will make you pay to contact others, but it's free if someone else initiates it. The best thing with that one is to get them to give you their email or have them look you up on facebook.

Since (for whatever reason) my obsession revolves around languages, I was hunting around online and found this series of textbooks... It's created by two professors (one in Minnesota and one in Texas). It's a lot cheaper than a normal printing of a textbook, but still a bit on the expensive side (well, maybe not since they're brand new...)

^^^That and Spanish... At least in the US. At least with sign language you won't have to learn an entirely new grammar system.

^^¡Si! Es muy buena idea aprender el español porque hay mucha gente hispana en los Estados Unidos que no hablán el inglés. Bueno, sería mejor que ellos aprendieran el inglés, pero ya sabemos que eso no va a pasar. LOL
