| Now Im on about proper steel boned corsets (the hard stuff!) not the thin things you can get.
Is it really hard to make your own? OR if you already have a corset is it possible to put steel boning inside? Plus is steel bonin costly?
I ask this because im sick of getting ones from else where and there not what I wanted, so I just have them in my draw doing nothing.
Any help / Websites whatever would be greatful..! | |

| Making a corset is definitely an art, and not easy. I really don't think adding steel boning to an existing flimsy corset would work because the material wouldn't be strong enough to work with the steel boning. A steel boned corset has lots of taping and layers and is super reinforced. I can, however, recommend some great corsetiers for you if you want. I only buy made to measure corsets anymore. They fit so much better than off the rack, and they generally aren't really THAT much more expensive. It's worth the extra money in comfort alone, because a made to measure will be MUCH more comfortable to wear. | |

| I would fork out and get a corsetier to custom make one or update one of your old ones the problem with trying to steal bone a lightweight corset is often the fabric isn't strong enough. do you mean to be tight lacing? Have a chat with some one who is experienced and they will defiantly help you and it will be worth it.

| I have always gotten my steel boned corsets form Renaissance fairs, but I am ordering my first online one soon from absolute corsets or bad attitude boutique. | |

| If you do want to purchase your corset I'd say beware Fairygothmother, I've had a bad experience with them. And vollers' boning is spiral so depends what you like. | |
