| I'll posts my own soon enough, but I think this question should get some play. Villains are usually the more interesting characters, usually the reason for heroes to have to exist at all. So personal favorites, Top-10 or Top-20, whatever you want to state? What villains from the big screen are your favorite, and if so why? | |

| David Bowie as Pontius Pilate in Last Temptation of Christ. It's basically a cameo, but a strong one. Pilate is one of the darkest characters in western literature, but Bowie played him not with evil or remorse, as we see in other versions of the passion play, but with apathy. It's rings true in a way other portrayals don't. | |

Oh good, I'm not the only one who thinks so. Let me do some thinking: Freddy Kruger Michael Myers Chucky Pinhead Otis I pretty much like them all since I have more sympathy for the villain than I do the protagonist.

Darth Vader
Belloq in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
And, forgive me for saying this, Tom Cruise in "Interview" and "Collateral"
Aside from movies I would like to give special mention to t.v. villains Mr. Burns and Sylar from "Heroes".
