| Anyone have either of these? With Christmas fast approaching, I was debating if there was anything materialistic I'd ask my family for or put on my "wish list" and since my PS2 no longer reads disks... I think now is about as good of time as any to update my system anyways. Originally I would have said Playstation 3... the model that's backward compatible (way to screw everyone over yet again Sony). However, at second thought I realize... many of the games I want to play the most... are multisystem available. In addition to this, the Xbox/360 seems to have much more personalization capacities (watching YouTube videos and downloading movies for example) while... I assume the PS3 doesn't have half these options (or maybe it does - I'm only familiar with the PS2 so... ) So what is everyone's thoughts on the next generation console war? Also, can the Xbox/360 have PC games (such as Starcraft or WoW) downloaded & ran on them? or is there a way to Mod it for that? Would that/other Mods be "hard" to do? Thanks |

| If you want, and you're really good, you can have my old ps2, I have a couple...along with almost every other old-school console at home The 360 and PS3 are probably both the biggest pieces of crap on the market. But you can do quite a bit with the 360 that the PS3 can't right now. There are plenty of sites offering mods and the such for 360 and I'm sure there's a way to run it via PC and Vice Versa, but you'll kill the warranty immediately. So just be sure you read up on the sites before you go and choose to drop a few hundred dollars on a possible future giant paperweight if things go awry. |

| The bonus of a PS3 is it's a blue-ray player and gigantic game console in one. Offers hours of entertainment on both ends. But then you need an HD TV that can work hand in hand with the PS3 for the Blue-ray to be worth a damn, or else you get DVD's that look like all the others. |

| Okay, so they're not all 'crap' but I'm in it for the nostalgia of playing all my old games that I grew up with that aren't 'cool' or appreciated anymore. |

| Ahem, so yes, PS3 vs. 360. Check the mod sites and see what you can do, and if you are satisfied, go with it... |

| I dunno... I'm really leaning towards Xbox 360 for all the not-just-gaming aspects and what the system has to offer itself. Sony has proven with the PS2 & it's hard disk drive that they can't fully be depended upon to keep their promises. $100 and we didn't get crap for it. However, I'm sure... at least I hope... they'd learn from their mistakes and actually utilize the HDDs with the PS3, not to mention that the 80 Gig (at least the original one) is backward compatible with the PS2 games and that definitely has me leaning towards it (can get the cheaper Rock Band/Guitar Heros for the ps2 version then the newer ones for the ps3 aspect ) It's a shame I can't get both... But if I find a place that still does lay-away I totally will start putting money down towards a PS3 and hopefully get an Xbox 360 for Christmas. Unfortunately I also need an SLR Digital Camera now as well so... prolly not going to have my cake and eat it too. It'll be cheaper next year anyways... |

| I guess im the only person who adores there PS3?!?!
Whats not to love about the PS3? Its FREE internet, you get some FREE downloads on themes, extra's for games, trailers, demos and much more. With the 360 you have to pay for using Xbox live and you have to buy points to download extras, and films etc. But with the films its just like renting a DVD accept you dont have to get off you bum to walk to your local rental shop.
Graphics are better with a HD TV for the PS3 but they still look fine without one just not as smooth. Plus you've got the Blu-ray thing as well - which I dont bother using, just use a DVD not THAT much of a difference.
OK, you cannot get Gears of War 2 or Halo 3 for the PS3 but you can get many other games like Resistance 2 (cannot wait for that!), Sing Star, Buzz and Killzone 2.
Its totally down to you but I just LOVE my PS3 | |
