| For the love of god, I am SO sick of Twilight!
I was riding the subway the other day, reading Barbara Hambly's book, Traveling With The Dead, and a bunch of teen girls ran up to me and were like, "OMG, is that a Twilight book"? I almost thwaped her in the head with it. I mean, it says REAL big on the front cover, 'Traveling with the Dead by Barbara Hambly". WFT?!

| ^^I would have smacked her on the head with it, maybe it will wake up some of those dead brain cells! My friend is making me go see the 2nd movie with her. I think I might shoot myself.....(or one of the crazed obsessed fans will kill me because I will be complaining about the movie on the way out.) I can't wait till all this twilight hype is over....only 3 more movies to go.....right, just kill me now. | |

I can't wait till all this twilight hype is over....only 3 more movies to go.....right, just kill me now. Wait, 4 movies? 5 Movies? Got room in that grave for me? Best case scenario, but thoroughly unrealistic: the Twilight series will inspire people to seek out more vampire/dark movies, literature, art. One could only hope.

I blame Bela Lugosi for being so sexy -
Too bad he's dead! Aw... haha... lousy goth joke seriously, I did enjoy the books, but am p!ssed off at the miley-cyrusification of the whole thing. I liked it more when i read it years ago. I don't know how these kids wrapped their minds around things like the plot point (in New Moon) of Bella's film camera. Working in a photo lab has made me aware that tweens have no idea how film cameras are supposed to work. To me the book seems antique already. I initially read it the same way I read Anne Rice or Laurel K. Hamilton- like "huzzah for more vamipire soft-core sensuality!" Too bad it got blown out of proportion. But I like the theory that the vampires are angels- Stephanie Meyer is Mormon, so who knows what she thinks on that, but I don't attribute any grand design of that nature to her- she may not be that clever. i mean, there is the establishment lthat Edward believes their race to be soul-less, and then of course he dumps Bella for that reason, (should I have spoiler-alerted this?) But then in a way she finds her own soul when she becomes a vampire, so really... my jurys out on that. One way or another, I'm sure the next movie will ruin a book I enjoyed the same way Queen of The Damned did. Which is why I like to think I ignore hollywood.

| I read that Meyer was inspired by a dream where a guy sparkled, thus the whole vampire sparkling. | |

| And on it goes. DuWop Twilight VenomFrom the directions: "Twilight Venom should be shaken before use (to represent the blending of the human and vampire worlds) and can be applied repeatedly until desired intensity of color has been reached and lips are plumped and revitalized." "With a customizable ruby stain that captures the blood red lips sported by fashionable vampires, Twilight Venom can let you play the part!" | |

| I just think all of this is stupid. Same thing with Kat Von D on LA INK. I do think she is a good artist. I was fine when she came out with her own line of perfume. Then when she came out with her book that was fine. But now she is coming out with her own make-up line. I mean this is all stuff that you could buy from mac or a mixture of wet n' wild. It's not like she is coming out with new colors or anything. She is just remaking the colors she normally uses and putting her name on it. And obviously just like the movie tons of people will buy over priced make-up because it has a special name from the movie or from the tv show. I highly doubt the quality will be as good or better then what you can buy from mac so it is pointless. | |

| Even adult swim is starting to make fun of it. In one of their bumps for Dragon Con, they ended off with saying something along the lines of, "Better finish up your sparkling vampire costume." | |

| ^^yes, but for every true one there will be a gazillion others who are just doing it because it is "cool". The one thing I hate about college is that there are girls here who are obessed with it. and they are in college. how pathetic. Luckily, my roomate isn't a crazed fan. I would have had to request a new roomate. | |

| I was in Target yesterday shopping, and walked past a display of t-shirts that said "I <3 Vampires". I blame Twilight. | |

RedAngel wrote: Regarding Twilight: I saw a t shirt in Target last weekend that said "I [heart] Vampires." I'm guessing it's because of Twilight's popularity. I wish they sold another one that said, "I [heart]ed Vampires before they were cool." Might have to make that one!

| I just came back from Subway. There were a lot of kids from the local high school having lunch there. Most of them wore the de facto uniform of khaki shorts, pastel tee, baseball cap promoting Local Sports Team and whatnot. Mainly chattering about their cars or whoever they thought wouldn't make it through this school year... real nice folks.
A couple is sitting at a separate table. Cute Asian fella, looks like a techie, and his girlfriend: grey jeans, silver jewelry, black eyeliner, and the "I Heart Vampires" shirt.
I've got to be honest, the contrast between them and their peers made me smile.

| I mean true this is all getting really annoying, but now that I take a step back how can we all complain? Look at what we were interested in when we were all younger? For some it was aladdin, thumbalina, cabbage patch kids, so on and so forth. I mean we all were like this kids way back when we were a foot high or trying to figure out what this amazing goth thing was. I do still think it should be put to an end, but I remember when I was one of those annoying twerps because I was always called a mall goth. I new I wanted to be goth at the time, but I didn't have anyone to explain to me what all of it was about. So some of these annoying things helped me learn and here sits the loveable DCGG that you all secretly hate but pretend to love | |

| There was a Twilight convention yesterday nearby in New Jersey. None of the actors from the movie were there, but they did feature the hand model from the book covers. I saw it on the news yesterday. Ew. | |
