I got a random call last night from a friend saying she forgot to give me two pairs of boots that she borrowed back in high school, one of which being an exact copy of the lovely ones that died this week. I have boots again!! Very Happy

Have to take the other pair to get the zipper fixed, but I'm not complaining about that.

I had asked a friend who was going to Bedlam if he would kindly send me a Doghouse Crew badge for my biker jacket and bless him, he said that he would.

Got a package today containing two badges, two bumper stickers and a flyer signed by Koefte DeVille of Mad Sin! He wrote MY name and suggested I "stay demonic". Yay!!!!!

Sometimes peoples' thoughtfulness and kindness just kinda blows me away Very Happy

Some things need fixing, some things have holes and need replacing, but I'm really fortunate to have enough to cover the essentials. No new boots this week, but most of the bills are paid, the pantry is stocked, and I've got birthday plans lined up for Gareth. There's always next week anyway. Smile

Spent a great day with my friends today. We went to the Medieval festival in Manhattan, and afterwards the huge costume store near the East Village. I got my mermaid costume for Halloween! We later met my husband for a fantastic dinner at this great new restaurant by my house.

There's finally a buyer for that 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor of my building that's been for sale since like forever. My husband was reviewing the lady's application yesterday - he's on the co-op board - and it looks promising. It really doesn't look good for a co-op building if they have apartments that aren't selling.

Also happy because I got pulled out of having to run a group today. Not that I don't like my groups, it's just that I wasn't really feeling it today.

Just generally feeling optimistic about this weekend. Hoping to go boot shopping and make jewelry (and cards). A little intimidated at the idea of driving G's new car on my own, but that's just good ol' irrational anxiety again. Must not play with the dozens of satellite radio stations... and I'm already in the habit of parking in the boonies section of parking lots, so no stress about squeezing it between SUVs.

I was like that the first time I drove the Mazda and about two minutes in I realised that she is a FUN car and not a boring car. I think I may have exceeded the speed limit a few times Smile

I found the basic elements of my costume online for fairly cheap. Sure, I'm going to have to alter some things and make a black robe myself, but at least I should be able to make my costume for under $50 this year. I'm glad I can get a Venetian mask for cheap and convert it to a plague doctor's mask instead of spending $90-285 for a custom doctor's mask.
