I think it's a good thing that he did that.
It makes me wonder if the church has a plan to stop it from happening again.

Apologizing won't really undo the abuses. Even Catholics are starting to say that the no marriage for the priests is a really bad idea (which in turn lead the priests to abuse the children).

I think the Catholics are probably right.
Some urges just can't be contained and asking a human to behave in an unnatural way is an unreasonable demand.

Not everyone can control their urges.

It is human nature to want sex. And depriving priests of that well, look what it has come to.

Exactly.....they may be "men of god" but they are still men. Still human.

I've always thought the whole "no marriage" bit was complete crap. But I know exactly why the Church doesn't allow it... and it has nothing to do with the Faith.

It's ALWAYS about money. Always.

Like with Deacons, who can get married... the Church is required to pay for housing for the deacon's family. The Church simply is too stingy to pay for priests and their families, too.

It should be optional. I mean, Catholic priests aren't the only religious ones who commit themselves to celibacy.

Monk and nunneries are also money making specialties.
