| Anselm Kiefer's exhibit in New York, Next Year in Jerusalem, was probably my favorite showing of art I'd seen of all last year. This stuff really had to be seen to be believed, I chose it as one of my subjects as a critique for my portfolio class. The guy is one of my 5 favorite living artists, and the world should realize his brilliance, I mean the guy is the first living artist to create a permanent installation in the Louvre since Braque in 1950's.
I'm gonna say my Top 5 living artists are (in no particular order):
Anselm Kiefer Robert Williams Teresita Fernandez H.R. Giger Lucian Freud
Teresita's show at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery three years ago was amazing, and Freud is probably the most dynamic living painter, though the guy is almost 90. I'd probably say that Giger and Williams are tied for my favorite living artists, the versatility these two guys have is unbelievable.

http://tabtiurf.deviantart.com/ I have to agree on the significant other's art being a favorite! My bf has amazing work as well & is extremely talented. He doesn't even have to try! haha It makes me envious Here's an example

| ^^ Thanks on his behalf! And your bf's work is excellent. That's a very cool piece you posted. Yeah, doesn't it drive you nuts how they don't need to try? G is really critical of his work, too. It's tough to help him see his own talent. Maybe that's true of any artist though -- we're all our own worst critics. | |

| ^^Thanks! His work is fantastical. And we definitely are our own worst critics. I am bad about that as well It's ok. That's why we have those that enjoy it...or just remind you of how badly it sucks | |

http://esrefarmagan.com/ I'm smelling some ranky bullsh*t. Colors themselves are rather subjective to the eyes of those who can see (one person's eye will register a color one way while another person's eye will see it differently) so if he was born blind without having seen colors before, how can he conceptualize colors and accurately attribute them to certain objects--like a waterfall?
